Rapid City's Own ABBEY ROAD

Rushmore Plaza Civic Center Theater
Saturday, November 13, 2010 - 2:00 pm

Abbey Road Band

Four guys that grew up loving The Beatles music formed this band so that people could hear a live performance of that music as true to the original as pollible. Back in the 60's when the “Fab 4” first hit the scene, they were all playing Beatles songs in their own towns, in their own local rock groups. They all continued to love that music through the years.

The four members of The Abbey Road Band, now polished professionals, gifted musicians and entertainers, have accomplished their objective of bringing The Beatles music to life for all to enjoy!

Although well known in the Black Hills region, it is with great pleasure that Rapid City Concert Association brings them to the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center Theatre as they embark on a multi-state tour in the Midwest.

High School Students Meet Stringfever

October 1, 2009

RCCA always wants to, but seldom has the opportunity to work with local schools or other groups. Board member Holly Lunde suggested that Stringfever, a unique string quartet from London playing electric instruments would be a great opportunity, if possible. We found that the group's travel schedule would make this possible. Also that they would be pleased to hold an informal demonstration and instruction session. When approached, indicating that it would be at no cost to the school system, both high schools agreed and it was found that an event could take place in the afternoon prior to the evening performance. During the planning it was learned that the school's string programs were serendipitously considering adding electric instruments to their programs.

More that 200 students and teachers were seated on stage as Stringfever explained and demonstrated their instruments and took questions. At the end, students were invited to come up for a closer look and to play the instruments. Bruce Knowles of Central said: “The workshop was a top-notch experience that was an entertaining and educational experience that our students will not soon forget.” William Evans of Stevens noted that: “It was a lot of fun, and quite inspirational”.
