London Concertante is one of the finest chamber ensembles in the UK whose players are brought together through a shared passion for chamber music. The group has the rare ability to combine flexibility of instrumental grouping while consistently maintaining superb artistic endeavor. With a wide spectrum of recordings, an enviable record of critical acclaim, and performances throughout the UK and Europe, London Concertante rightfully claims a position at the forefront of classical performers.

Artistic director Chris Grist says, “We are very proud of our achievements and our constant drive to give ever better performances.”

The ensemble consists of 10 strings – 5 violins, 2 violas, 2 celli, 1 bass and a harpsichord. The members combine these instruments to play with an uncanny clarity of texture in which every detail can be heard. Their tone is soft-as-velvet bow strokes that sing and an appealingly wide volume range.

On this first tour in the US, London Concertante’s program will include compositions by Barber, Bach, Holst and Vivaldi.
