"Not just another band - a complete stage show!" is how this sensational group from Bloomington, Minnesota presents itself. Their well-seasoned shows are punctuated with whim, wit and zany comedy along with incredible vocals and special numbers.

Barbary Coast Dixieland Band has been setting toes tapping since 1967 in major nightclubs, at the Minnesota State Fair, the Ordway Theatre and over the airwaves. The group has taken its jazz message far and wide from Bloomington to Florida, Arizona, Mississippi River paddlewheelers and to Nagasaki, Japan.

Since its founding the band has persevered through changes in leaders, name, style and mission as it evolved into the award-winning form it is today. It has recently been inducted into the Minnesota Music Hall of Fame.

The band has survived the many threats and obstacles to becoming an established regional institution. Barbary Coast Dixieland Band has not only prevailed as a first-rate band, but has matured into a production company representing several of the most talented traditional jazz musicians in the Upper Midwest.

A word about their name: In spite of all its adventurous implications, there is no geographical connection to San Francisco's Barbary Coast, former haven of pirates and other colorful characters frequenting that notorious area. Instead, the band traces its origin to an island near the south shore of the Mississippi River as it flows from west to east past downtown St. Paul, Minnesota.

Come join the Rapid City Concert Association in its presentation of this upbeat, joyful and thoroughly entertaining show!
