This world renowned troupe of singers and dancers with orchestra is a company of 70 members It was created in the USSR in January 1977 to perform primarily for troops. In 1989 the ensemble expanded its artistic borders and began to participate in Russian Arts Festivals, then Moscow concert halls, and eventually embarking on foreign tours including other European countries as well as the United States.
The company is composed of 30 in the chorus, 23 dancers, and 18 instrumentalists with Colonel Nicolai Rabovsky, Artistic Director & Chief Conductor. This large ensemble completely dazzles every audience. They have performed in over 150 American cities with sellout performances in New York, Chicago, St. Louis, Miami as well as many smaller communities. Thanks to the distinctive creative nature of the ensemble with its youthful personnel, RedStar is regarded as the leading performing group of the Russian armed forces.
These Russian musicians, dancers and singers dazzle every crowd with flamboyant, gravity-defying leaps and pirouettes while the singers control of dynamics from little pinpricks of sound to a tornado of vocal expression excites emotions. All is backed by an excellent small orchestra.
The performance is a colorful mixture to both eye and ear. Songs of love or melancholy alternate with wonderful dances of amazing vitality to form a perfect symphony of stirring sight and sound!
